MOMENT Post Tensioning Barrel and Wedges

When it comes to tendon or pre tensioning wire applications that require the induction of tensile force, two essential components from Moment products, are barrels and wedges. These components work in tandem to securely hold and maintain the tension in the system.

When it comes to tendon or pre tensioning wire applications that require the induction of tensile force, two essential components from Moment products, are barrels and wedges. These components work in tandem to securely hold and maintain the tension in the system.

Barrel: A key element in the Moment post-tensioning system, the barrel is a cylindrical component specifically designed to fit over a single prestressing strand. It serves as a vital link between the strand and the anchor, facilitating the transfer of force. Equipped with a tapered finish, the barrel effectively locks the wedges in place as the force increases. Notably, barrels can be used as an alternative to anchor blocks for momo-strand stressed tendons, providing a versatile solution.

Wedges: Engineered from high-strength steel, wedges are tapered components featuring internal serrations that deliver exceptional gripping power. Their primary function is to firmly hold prestressing strands during and after tensioning. By strategically positioning three parts of the wedges around the strand and drawing them into conical recesses within the anchorage during jack retraction, a secure and reliable grip is achieved.

The combination of barrels and wedges ensures optimal tensioning in applications involving tendons or pre tensioning wires.
