According to the "2022-2026 Market Status Survey and Development Prospects Analysis Report on Bulletproof Helmets" released by Hangzhou Zhongjing Zhisheng Market Research Co., Ltd., the main bulletproof helmets equipped by China's police are GK80 steel helmets developed in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1997, non-metallic aramid military bulletproof helmets developed by the General Logistics Equipment Research Institute were first equipped in the Hong Kong garrison. Since the 1990s, various steel helmets have been developed by the General Administration, the Armed Police, and the public security system, with good performance. The second-generation synthetic helmet developed in China is a replacement product, with representative ones including QGF-02 aramid helmet UD-75 nylon helmet The FDK02-II nylon helmet and other armor have a protective ability that can withstand the impact of Type 54 standard bullets (with a speed of 450m/s).

The QGF-02 helmet, equipped in 1997 for the Hong Kong garrison, is made of aramid fiber composite material independently developed by China. Its appearance is inspired by the PASGT helmet of the US military, with only one helmet type. The head circumference can be adjusted through the suspension system, and the contact area with the head is lined with wool, providing excellent comfort and stability. The QGF-02 aramid helmet has better protective performance than the first generation PASGT helmet of the US military, weighing 1.45 kilograms.

The QGF-03 helmet was first equipped in the military in 2005, with a design inspired by Germany's M826 helmet.

The QDF11 helmet was first adopted by the People's Armed Police in 2015 and equipped with the "Snow Leopard" assault team. The QDF11 helmet weighs 1.28 kilograms and is made of composite materials containing carbon fiber. The prototype is inspired by the American MICH2001 helmet, and its biggest feature is that it can be equipped with communication earphones, night vision devices, and lighting equipment.

The improvement of the level of bulletproof helmets requires both the improvement of the performance of bulletproof materials and the improvement of manufacturing technology.

Under the condition of consistent fiber performance, better textile technology or weft free fabric manufacturing technology can ensure low loss of fiber performance; The improvement of adhesive level and coating level can maximize the performance of bulletproof materials and ensure the rigidity of helmets.

We need to continue doing systematic technological research that integrates high damage resistance, modularity, and multifunctionality in line with the characteristics of industrial applications, including the development of high-strength/high modulus/high toughness matrix resins, improvement of intermediate properties of fiber-reinforced resin based composite materials, high-performance fiber surface activation processes, and engineering process design based on the above requirements.
