As a large coal province, Shanxi has been identified as a pilot province for comprehensive reform of the national energy revolution in 2019. On May 15, the State New Office held a series of themed press conferences on "Promoting high-quality development". Wu Wei, Standing Committee member of the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and Executive Vice governor, said that Shanxi is striving to build a pilot zone for comprehensive reform of the national energy revolution. "We must take concrete actions, not be the boss of coal, and bravely become the vanguard of the energy revolution."
Shanxi Province has issued the country's first local regulations on the clean and efficient use of coal, made all-out efforts to tackle key energy technologies, actively promoted new green, low-carbon and energy-saving technologies, and accelerated the formation of a new model of energy consumption. At present, the proportion of green buildings in the province's new buildings, the coverage rate of clean heating in both urban and rural areas has reached more than 90%, Yuncheng Zhuangshang Village has become the first "China zero carbon village demonstration village", and the buses and taxis in the urban built-up areas of 11 cities have been updated to new energy vehicles. In the first three years of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the province's energy intensity decreased by 10.9%, ranking first in the country.
