On November 7, at the 2024 World Energy Storage Conference in Ningde, Fujian Province, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) unveiled the world's first energy storage industry research report. Titled "Photovoltaics and Energy Storage Supporting Energy Transition", this report was led by CATL and developed in collaboration with members of IRENA's "Energy Storage and Grid Reliability" international action group. It is the first global energy storage research report with significant participation from a Chinese company.

The report commences with insights from the "UAE Consensus" reached at the 28th UN Climate Change Conference. It delves into how countries can scientifically set energy storage installation targets to direct key resources such as funding, technology, and talent into this sector. The aim is to accelerate global energy storage deployment while ensuring that renewable energy development is in line with global transitions. Additionally, the report emphasizes safety issues related to energy storage systems and calls for the establishment of safety standards and empirical platforms to promote healthy and orderly industry growth.
