South African MTN and Huawei Sign Net5.5G Strategic Cooperation MoU

MTN South Africa and Huawei jointly held the IP Day Summit with the theme of "Net5.5G Network Development". The summit brought together top experts in MTN network planning from South Africa and Huawei's data communication to discuss global network construction concepts, the latest innovative technologies, and business insights in the IP field

 

 

[Johannesburg, South Africa, June 12, 2024] Recently, South African MTN and Huawei jointly held an IP DAY summit with the theme of "Net5.5G Network Development". The summit brought together top experts in South African MTN network planning and Huawei data communication, discussing global network construction concepts, the latest innovative technologies, and business insights in the IP field, aiming to further enhance the network resilience and business experience of South African MTN. At the meeting, South African MTN and Huawei signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Net5.5G strategic cooperation, jointly promoting the large-scale application of key capabilities such as 400GE, SRv6, slicing, and network digital maps of Net5.5G in the future, continuously improving MTN's business experience and network high availability in the mobile and B2B fields, and enhancing its operational efficiency.

Rami Farah, Chief Technology Officer of MTN in South Africa, said, "Innovation is crucial for MTN and a key pillar of its network strategy."

 

Zoltan Miklos, Manager of MTN Network Planning in South Africa, said, "A healthy and stable network has been a long-term focus of MTN in South Africa. The application of SRv6 and network digital maps has helped MTN in South Africa create the best experience IP bearer network.". Feng Su, Sales Director of Huawei's IP Marketing and Solutions, emphasized that "Net5.5G is the direction of IP network evolution. Huawei has long invested in ultra wide products, network serviceization, and network intelligence, and looks forward to continuously helping South African MTN build a leading IP carrier network with ultra wide, high reliability, and ultimate experience, supporting South African MTN to achieve greater commercial success."

 

Xu Huan, Vice President of Huawei's Data Communication Product Line Metro Router, said, "With the Net5.5G target network as the driving force, we will work together with South African MTN to accelerate the commercial implementation of the next generation IP carrier network."

 

According to this Memorandum of Understanding, South African MTN and Huawei will continue to define the Net5.5G target network to support the continuous development of South African MTN's mobile, enterprise, and home wide businesses. The cooperation between the two parties will play a demonstrative role in the region, accelerate the implementation of new technologies and applications, and drive the sustainable development of regional operators.
