Your sand filter works to keep your water as clean as possible. We fill the sand filter with recycled glass media that filters dirt and small particles. These particles are rinsed from the glass media by performing a backwash. This is a 1 minute process that will keep your filter media nice and clean. We backwash our pool once every 2-4 weeks or as needed.

You’ll also want to choose a treatment chemical. A lot of stock tank pool owners use 1” chlorine tablets and a floating dispenser. We choose to treat our stock tank pool with concentrated Hydrogen Peroxide. It’s gentle on our son’s sensitive skin, and we can reuse it on our plants.

In addition to treating your water, we recommend you purchase a cover for your stock tank pool. This will keep leaves and sediment from falling into your pool. A leaf net can also be very useful for scooping out debris.

Even though the stock tank pool craze may have already peaked and you likely already know what a stock tank pool is, I still get questions every time I post my floats.
